Then we were VERY rudely treated by the male bartender at the back bar! That was enough, we left.Amy Nicklosovich. We almost had to leave without paying, no one ever came back to check on us or give us a bill! Food was ok, over priced. Had another drink while waiting for our food, which took FOREVER! I'm thinking they were a little short of help. ![]() We were seated way in the back & ordered. Wow! First at the door we each had to pay a cover charge of $5 to get in! No one really knew what it covered!? We had a drink & waited at the bar for a table. So this last labor day weekend we went there a 2nd time & to eat there also. We went there 2 years ago for the first time, and it was so much fun! We didn't eat there, we just had a drink and looked around. I really want to like this place, but just won't let me. Or maybe the Safe House simply lives off its reputation as a "fun" destination and gets enough tourist and group party crowd that it doesn't need to worry about real service. It was a Wednesday night and maybe they weren't prepared for the crowd they had. The waitress seemed incredibly busy and said she would be with us first chance she could. That seemed to create a little irritation, but we were taken to a table. I went back saying there was no seats to be had and wanted a table in the restaurant. Except there was not a seat to be had at the bar, which was easily seen by her, with some places people standing 2 deep. With a dismissive wave she told us to have a seat at the bar. ![]() The most recent visit the hostess asked us if we were having a meal or just drinks and appetizers. Unfortunately I've never had a great visit. This place always seems crowded so they are obviously doing something right for someone. I've been here maybe a 1/2 dozen times over the last 10 years and yet to have anything, but a frustrating experience. ![]()
